About HuttonIT
Hutton IT is based in Hutton which is a suburb of Brentwood, Essex in the South East of England.
The Proprietor, Nigel Graham, began trading as Hutton IT on the 9th September 1999.
Hutton IT began after Nigel had to learn Web Publishing for himself when he was unable to create some sites economically for some local charities. He began to learn about Web Publishing and found that the big companies had cornered the market; 'In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king'. After learning about HTML he went on to complete some sites for friends and local charities. As a result of his success he decided that the company would front all his web design and business. He continues to maintain existing charity sites.
What We found.
After looked around the web we found that you can have a web site up and running for very little or nothing but will hours if not days of your time researching how to do it and not getting on with your own business while doing so. This in turn is causing frustration by using online web design tools, which normally mean you have to suffer pop-up windows or adverts all over your site. The alternative is to let the professionals do it for you. Prices ranged from the greedy to the ridiculously greedy (as much as £5000 for 5 pages - It must take the coder all of 1 hours to do the code). They confused you with technology and hide behind small print. Most gave no support or backup, unless you enter into an annual maintenance contract often in excess of £1000 per year. 'You only get what you pay for' is what they will claim. The truth is that they will only take as much as they can persuade you to part with. Many use simple Word to HTML conversion so you end up with slow loading pages and code that is totally unnecessary often to their limited standard design. Often there is no Hosting or transferring onto the web (FTP) would not be included in the price. You also have to put up with someone else's advertising on your pages with links to sites you may not approve of. Frankly the experience of some clubs, charities, or small businesses have been enough for them to leave the web alone. There-by loosing a potential audience of millions.
One thing new designers to the web do not understand is that the web depends on the download time of your visitors modem. A lot of sites are so badly coded that they take too long to view. Would you wait 60 seconds for a page to download? No is the answer, unless it was something you really wanted and were prepared to wait for it. This page should have taken no more than 5 seconds on the slowest connection yet has a lot of information on it.
In light of all this we decide there is a better way forward and started Hutton IT to help fill the gap between the big corporate web design and construction companies and the cowboys on the web. Hutton IT will always ensure code is valid and conforms to W3C standards as far as possible. FTP is included in the deal. Hosting and Domain Registration is quoted in advance after considering your specific needs. Please note that not many of the corporate web designers will not give you a final price up front making appointments and discussing your needs then charging you for that consultation on top of their headline price.
